Folding knife, 11 cm, satin finish with stainless steel bolsters and Aubrac cow horn handle

The Original Forge de Laguiole® folding knives have a thin and curved silhouette that appeared in the 1900’s. With their Elegance, impeccable finish, and the use of quality materials; these Forge de Laguiole® folding knives have become a true reference.

The blades are hot forged from French steel (T12), made especially for Forge de Laguiole®, providing an exceptional cutting edge while guaranteeing a high durability. The handles are handmade from many precious materials.

This Forge de Laguiole® folding knife with a handle in Aubrac cow horn has been hand-made in our manufactory in Laguiole, France, according to the knife-making tradition dating back to 1828. It has two brass bolsters that protect the handle during daily use.

As most of the materials used are of natural origin, their appearance (colour, veining, grain) is likely to vary from one item to another. The photos on our official online shop are not contractually binding.

The size indicated indicates the length of the closed knife.

The Bolsters

The two bolsters (mitres) are forged and fixed on a metal liner, which will be drilled before the assembly. These massive steel bolsters help to protect the handle during daily use.

The Guillochage
The Guillochage, a goldsmith’s skill, is the decoration composed of different line patterns, elaborated on the spine of the spring of the folding knife or the silk of the table knife.
The Handle

The handles, whether made of wood, horn, bone or from other rare materials such as mammoth teeth or stingray skin, are individually selected, sculpted and handset by our Master-Knifesmiths.

The Bee

The bee is a traditional symbol on our knives. The legend goes that the Napoleonic imperial symbol was attributed to the citizens of Laguiole by Emperor Napoléon himself as a tribute to their courage shown in the services to the emperor.

The Stainless Steel

The blades, made from the high-quality French T12 steel which is exclusively produced for Forge de Laguiole®, are forged to 1000°C in our manufactory in Laguiole, France. This stainless steel is the result of a perfectly balanced combination of carbon and chrome providing an exceptional cutting edge while guaranteeing a high durability.

The Blade
The blades are hot forged from French stainless steel and can have a shiny or matt finish.
