Before bringing her distinctly feminine and pure touch to a collection of Forge de Laguiole® knives, Andrée Putman pursued a career as a pianist, like her mother, who was a concert performer. Her free-spirit is omnipresent in her work. She founded her own company, Ecart, in 1978 specializing in the decoration and re-editing furniture of the 1930s. Her designs are both strong and straight-forward. Forge de Laguiole® asked her to create a knife: an amazing creation of sobriety inspired by a Laguiole knife from the 1820s.
