A beautiful piece with character and a perfect edge, available in a set of six.
A tasty capon, a marvellous fragrant salmon, Kobe beef, a beef wellington cooked to perfection in its crispy pastry … the Christmas Eve dinner is always a promise of gastronomic bliss.
So, to preserve the integrity of the food, and makes every sharing of flavours a unique moment, Santos Bregaña and Forge de Laguiole have created ” León “, the “Bodegas” knife, specially designed to slice to perfection the finest meats of France, Navarre and … the ancient kingdom of León!
The project is the brainchild of both, the Spanish designer, an absolute aficionado of cooking and a friend of top chefs and José Gordon, owner of the famous Bodega El Capricho. Heir to the long tradition of Bodegas handed down by his grandparents, José Gordon was in search of the knife that would bring out the best in his beef.
Bodegas are those cellars located in the clay caves of the “siera del Teleno”, where friends and family used to gather around a nice meal and a good wine.
Working with Forge de Laguiole was an obvious choice. With its culture of innovation and excellence, its roots, and the history of its knife, which is linked to Spain, the famous manufacturer was the ideal partner. The result is a knife with a strong personality that is both simple and yet ultra-contemporary. The name León comes from the place where it was dreamed of the beautiful region of “Castilla y León“.
The handle, made from compressed black fabric, is a light, geometric extension of a wide, razor-sharp satin-finish steel blade. The cotton fibres perceptible in the structure of the handle material give the model an authenticity that reinforces its unique character.
“We’ve designed a table knife without excess. Faithful to the tradition of the Forges de Laguiole, this León knife is a dialogue between modernity and the ancient world, authentic and far from the fashions, just like Bodega El Capricho.” Santos Bregaña.
Santos Bregaña Born in Pamplona in 1965, Santos Bregaña studied architecture in San Sebastian and Barcelona before founding Atelier Laia in 1996. Passionate about gastronomy, he has designed numerous collections designed for the Arts de la table. Among them, the famous ” O! Luna” plate for the star chef of El Bulli Ferran Adrià. His creations have been exhibited in Paris, Washington, New York, Tokyo, Milan, Madrid, Miami, and Berlin.
El Capricho Bodega El Capricho is located in the village of Jiménez de Jamuz, close to Mount Teleno and its prehistoric treasures and rock labyrinths. Its owner and chef, José Gordon, cultivates an innovative and traditional cuisine that has won over an international audience.
