Folding knife, 9 cm, black compressed fabric handle and high polished finish with brass bolsters

The Original Forge de Laguiole® folding knives have a thin and curved silhouette that appeared in the 1900’s. With their Elegance, impeccable finish, and the use of quality materials; these Forge de Laguiole® folding knives have become a true reference.

The blades are hot forged from French steel (T14), made especially for Forge de Laguiole®, providing an exceptional cutting edge while guaranteeing a high durability. The handles are handmade from many precious materials.

This Forge de Laguiole® folding knife with a handle in black compressed fabric has been hand-made in our manufactory in Laguiole, France, according to the knife-making tradition dating back to 1828. It has two brass bolsters that protect the handle during daily use.

As most of the materials used are of natural origin, their appearance (colour, veining, grain) is likely to vary from one item to another. The photos on our official online shop are not contractually binding.

The size indicated indicates the length of the closed knife.

The Bee

The bee is one of the symbol on our traditional knives Forge de Laguiole.  It is forged and is an integral part of the spring.

The Bolsters

To protect the handle in daily use, our knives are fitted with end bolsters. The so-called mitres are made of steel or traditionally of brass and close off the handle. They are individually forged and attached to the drilled and polished plates.

The Steel

The blades of our knives are forged at 1000° in our manufactory. They are made of a French steel produced exclusively for Forge de Laguiole®. This T12 steel is the result of a clever combination of carbon and chrome - it ensures exceptional sharpness, excellent edge retention and remarkable sharpenability, while maintaining the unalterability of the blade.

The Handle

Precious wood, horn, bone or even mammoth molar - we carefully select the materials for our handles. By hand, our knifemakers carve and shape each individual handle.

Maintenance

Your Laguiole knife requires a minimum of care to stay in good condition and guarantee its longevity.

Do not get your knife wet. We advise you to wipe the blade of your knife with a cloth after each use.

It is necessary to accompany the blade when closing your knife to avoid dulling the edge with a brutal closing.

The closing notch of your folding knife needs to be greased regularly.
