The blades, made from the high-quality French T12 steel which is exclusively produced for Forge de Laguiole®, are forged to 1000°C in our manufactory in Laguiole, France. This stainless steel is the result of a perfectly balanced combination of carbon and chrome providing an exceptional cutting edge while guaranteeing a high durability.
The handles, whether made of wood, horn, bone or from other rare materials such as mammoth teeth or stingray skin, are individually selected, sculpted and handset by our Master-Knifesmiths.
The Guillochage, a goldsmith’s skill, is the decoration composed of different line patterns, elaborated on the spine of the spring. Here, the bee and the spring are completely hand sculpted by our Master-Knifesmiths.
The two bolsters (mitres) are forged and fixed on a metal liner, which will be drilled before the assembly. These massive steel bolsters help to protect the handle during daily use.
