The bee, one of the symbols of an Original Forge de Laguiole® knife, is carved with a file and an engraver. The legend goes that the Napoleonic imperial symbol was attributed to the citizens of Laguiole by Emperor Napoléon himself as a tribute to their courage shown in the services to the emperor.
The Stainless Steel
The blades, made from the high-quality French T12 steel which is exclusively produced for Forge de Laguiole®, are forged to 1000°C in our manufactory in Laguiole, France. This stainless steel is the result of a perfectly balanced combination of carbon and chrome providing an exceptional cutting edge while guaranteeing a high durability.
The blades are hot forged from French stainless steel and can have a shiny or matt finish.
The Bolsters
The two bolsters (mitres) are forged and fixed on a metal liner, which will be drilled before the assembly. These massive steel bolsters help to protect the handle during daily use.
